Who we are
Wingbeat Charitable Trust is a collaborative partnership between theatre practitioners Douglas Roberts and Bonnie Schäche. It offers intensive performance projects and skills workshops for groups of young people in community and schools contexts.

Douglas is an immersive and engaging theatre workshop facilitator and theatre director, fostering self confidence, creative expression, and adaptability in children, young people and adults.
With a background in education Douglas has worked with children and young adults in Scotland and New Zealand for over 30 years. He creates drama experiences that inspire new imaginative ways of thinking, confidence to act and speak with authenticity and conviction, and the practical skills to perform on stage. He has developed an innovative, intensive theatre production process for young people, creating high quality performances of his darkly comic, multi-layered play scripts.

Bonnie is a versatile, imaginative theatre practitioner with many years experience as a stage performer as well as a facilitator. She enables young people to be self-confident and innovative in workshop and performance contexts. Her approach is intuitive, personal, respectful, giving autonomy to young performers and inspiring them to achieve beyond what they thought possible.
In addition Bonnie brings her training in graphic design and website development to our theatre production projects in the form of costume, stage and publicity design.

Wingbeat began with a training collaboration between Douglas and Bonnie. They have worked together over several years to develop their unique approach to theatre production with young people. Their performance projects are intensive, highly adapted to their client groups, inclusive of local communities.
